THE TECNICA GROUP RECYCLES YOUR OLD SKI BOOTS!

Tecnica Group is kicking off the circular economy theme for the ski boot industry with its Recycle Your Boots project. Tecnica Group 's collection and recycling initiative has been awarded by the LIFE program - the EU's financial instrument for environmental and climate action! This is the company's contribution to a greener, better future.

Plastic waste is one of the biggest challenges of our time. However, plastic per se is not a bad material. Since the Tecnica Group's ski boots are mainly made of plastic, the company wants to attack this and do its part to improve the situation.

THE PROCESS

1. sport Bittl (store Munich-Allach) and other dealers collect the old ski boots of all manufacturers.

2. the ski boots are transported away by Fercam

3. the company LaPrima Plastics disassembles the ski boots into their individual parts

4. the secondary raw materials obtained are reprocessed

5. the University of Padua supervises the whole process

A NEW PRODUCT IS CREATED FROM AN OLD PRODUCT

The Recycle Your Boots project will have a lasting impact on the future of ski boot design in the Tecnica Group. The Tecnica Group innovation team is already working on integrating secondary raw materials from the Recycle Your Boots process into new products and ski or ski boot components - which has already been implemented in the new Tecnica Cochise model. In addition, in the production of the new ski boots, attention is paid to facilitating the recycling process after the boots have been used. Tecnica Group plans to open this project to other product categories and brands, both within and outside the ski boot industry.

THE NEW COCHISE - PERFORMANCE AND SUSTAINABILITY COMBINED

The new Cochise from Tecnica not only offers absolute performance, but also protects our environment by using recycled material in its manufacture.

Several boot components come directly from the Tecnica Group's Recycle Your Boots initiative and are made from recycled old ski boots, such as the aluminum buckle or the recycled sole material. The result: reduced CO2 emissions and lower energy consumption. In addition, each Cochise boot includes a QR code that provides educational and uniform remanufacturing information for better quality about the materials used.

The goal of Tecnica Group is to develop a sustainable process for the production of new ski boots through reuse.
