The Dainese story begins in Molvena Italy in 1972. Lino Dainese, a young motorcyclist and entrepreneur, is inspired to make protective clothing for motocross riders. Taking inspiration from the geometrics of classical armour and the natural world, Dainese has taken protective innovation close to its heart. From the early seventies right through to the nineties Dainese develops technologies that help motorcycling world champions reach new levels of safety, speed and achievement. Legends like Dieter Braun and Giacomo Agostini; Carl Fogarty and Valentino Rossi, are at the core of unique lessons learned in the toughest of arenas. Dainese push things forward again in 1994 when the ‘No Impact Division’ is created. The new division’s goal is to transfer racetrack-won knowledge to Alpine sports. That very year the Italian national ski team use Dainese protection incorporating kevlar and carbon-fibre technologies for the very first time. Building on the Italian team’s success, at the turn of the century champion downhiller Lasse Kjus skis to World Cup victory in the first ever Dainese ski helmet. Just three years later Dainese riders Rossi, Pedrosa and  Poggiali, win world titles in all motorcycle racing classes. Ski champions Giorgio Rocca, Karen Putzer and Lasse Kjus, meanwhile, move forward using Dainese suits, helmets and body protection. Each of these innovative products are developed with a wealth of technical innovation in conjunction with the University of Padova’s Mechanical Engineering Department. The company’s place at the heart of Alpine sports is sealed in 2005, when Dainese becomes Safety Partner for the Italian National Ski Team. As part of this the ‘D-Mobile’ workshops provide technical support to skiiers during the Alpine World Championship. Dainese skier Giorgio Rocca wins a record-breaking five straight slalom races in the 2006 season. Dainese’s legendary track-won status is now set in Alpine stone. In 2012 the launch of the fourth generation ‘Manis’ back protector takes technology and protection to new levels. Dainese now focuses on reaching out further into the mountains – a world of wind, snow and steepness where Dainese’s lighter, stretchier, more breathable and waterproof fabrics make perfect performance and comfort more possible than ever. The Dainese mission is simple: to provide active people with precision-crafted protection from head to toe.
