Touring Skins: adhesive-skin vs. adhesion-skin
Proven for decades, the adhesive skin is the absolute classic among touring skins. Since then, the manufacturers have continued to develop and optimize their formulations for the glue to meet all requirements.
|+ Adheres even in damp and wet conditions||- Less adhesion at very low temperatures|
|+ easily removable with a release film||- Soiled more easily|
|+ cheaper||- Adhesion can be reduced by soiling/ice in case of repeated peeling up and down|
|- Adhesive may need to be renewed after heavy use|
Thanks to their special film, adhesion skins adhere by virtue of their molecular attraction without additional glue. For example, window films at home work on a very similar principle.
|+ high surface adhesion||- expensive|
|+ easy removal from the ski||- less adhesion in damp, wet and dusty conditions|
|+ adheres even at low temperatures|
|+ repeated up and down usually without problems|
|+ easy cleaning|
Mohair skins pro & contra
In addition to the adhesion to the ski, there are also differences in the skin itself. You have to differentiate between synthetic skin, mohair skin and mixed skin. We show you the advantages and disadvantages of a mohair skin compared to a synthetic skin:
|Pro Mohair-Skin:||Contra Mohair-Skin:|
+ strong and permanently water-repellent
- higher wear than synthetic fiber
+ very good sliding properties
+ low adherent of ice
+ soft & flexible even in cold conditions
