The North Face name and logo represent the brand´s mission to provide the best outdoor gear. The North Face was founded in 1966 in San Francisco and named after the coldest, most unforgiving side of a mountain, as athletes in the northern hemisphere refer to that side as the hardest to climb. The logo was inspired by the “Half Dome”, the iconic symbol of the Yosemite national park.

The North Face offers everything needed to explore the outdoors. Therefore, the brand is known as the market leader for outdoor apparel and equipment. By creating the “HyVent” technology, The North Face created a breathable, waterproof material of the highest quality which resists any weather condition. Even after several washes, the layers remain intact and water resistant. By washing the material its membranes’ pores are being cleaned and the functionality fully restored.

The North Faces‘ success story started with selling equipment for alpinists in a small shop in San Francisco. Only a few years later, they began to design and manufacture their own outdoor gear. Quickly, those products became well known amongst their clients and established The North Face as a retailer of high-performance climbing and backpacking equipment. Nowadays The North Face provides equipment for all types of outdoor sports like alpinism and ski and sponsors many big sports events and expeditions.
