Ski helmets

There are hardly any functional differences between ski and snowboard helmets. The helmets must provide optimal (weather) protectionperformance and comfort, so we can enjoy the winter to the fullest. Technologies / designs such as MIPS® - Multi-Directional Impact Protection Systems, In-Mold, SPIN, Aerocore ™, ABS or MBS provide optimum protection, while adjustment systems such as Boa® - Fit and Run System Classic guarantee optimal, individual adaptation. Since things can get hot on the slopes too, ventilation openings and removable ear pads promise a cool head. Ski and snowboard helmets are seamlessly compatible with ski goggles of the same brand. Modern helmets are also compatible with various audio systems - for uncompromising action in the snow.

Snow Goggles

Who does not know this problem? Within a few minutes the sky darkens, the clouds move in front of the sun and it suddenly becomes dark. The weather in the mountains can change drastically within a few minutes. If you wear the wrong ski goggles now, the day of skiing will be difficult to come to a happy ending. Sport Bittl provides you with helpful hints overview of the different spectacle and disc types.

The requirements for ski goggles have risen sharply in recent years. For a long time now, there are only the "one" classic orange or yellow tinted glasses for all weather. As a first important point, all glasses have 100% UV A / B / C protection. Also, the discs are unbreakable, so it comes even with serious crashes to no splintering of the disc.

Before we go into the most important topic - the spectacle lenses - from Sport Bittl, we will give you further important features to consider when buying your ski goggles.

Helmet Compatible:
The ski goggles should definitely fit the ski helmet. The helmet must not press on the glasses and thus on the nose. At best, the goggles close at the top and sides of the helmet, so that no wind can reach your face. A large number of ski goggle straps now have silicone-coated straps so that the ski goggles can no longer slip.

Field of view:
A large field of view is of enormous importance in order to be able to perceive movements or terrain changes at the edge of the field of view. If you only have a limited field of view, you will have to work harder. This leads to fatigue of the eyes as well as their physical strength and can thus impair safety during skiing. A multitude of ski accidents is due to poor perception.

In the course of a day of skiing light and slope conditions are constantly changing. For the different conditions, different lenses can be used. Here is an overview:

Category transparency of application
Category 0 80-100% enormous cloud cover, night skiing
Category 40-80% cloud cover, snowfall, rather difficult lighting conditions
Category 2 18-40% All-round disc for changing light conditions
Category 3 8-18% sunny days
Category 4 3-8% extreme sun, suitable for glacier skiing
spherical discs

Snow Protectors

For long time the head (helmet) was in focus, now more and more another important part of the body becomes more protectable: Our spine. The wearing of back protectors is off the slopes, in the fun park or while racing not only useful, but more than necessary. However, even on the slopes more and more people wear a back protector.

A back protector is designed to protect Your spine, shoulder and chest.

Basically, there are two types of back protectors: The first version the protector is attached with a shoulder and abdominal belt, which can also be referred as a backpack variant. The other variant is a vest in which the back protector is integrated. Most of the vest is made of mesh or stretch material.

The customer also has the choice between hard shell protectors and soft protectors. Protectors with a hard shell construction are more used in the backcountry, park or pipe. This type of back protector is particularly advantageous in accidents involving sharp objects or impact on rails or boxes.
