- Classic foam mat
- Self-inflating sleeping pads
- Air mattress

Self-inflating sleeping pads have become established in the market because of such technologies. The R value (heat transfer resistance / insulation performance) indicates how well or poorly a mattress transfer the heat. The higher the R value, the higher the insulation performance of a sleeping mat.
