EDELRID - Vertical Freedom

With the invention of the kernmantel rope EDELRID has decisively influenced the climbing sport but also the safety at work. Only with a dynamic kernmantel rope is modern sport climbing in its present form possible at all. EDELRID not only uses the accumulated know-how for the development of ever new innovations, but also shares the knowledge with everyone who moves in the vertical. Rope production is the heart of the company - it all started in 1863, over 150 years ago, as a strand and cord factory. This foundation was soon supplemented by harnesses, belay devices, helmets, carabiners, etc. In addition to mountaineering equipment, the company manufactures products for industrial and tree climbers, adventure parks such as high ropes courses, and textile braids for industrial customers. The company remained family-owned until 2001, and is now part of the Vaude Group.

Focus on sustainability and the environment

EDELRID has made environmental protection a corporate goal and maintains an environmental management system with EMAS certification, an EU label. As part of this process, EDELRID publishes annual environmental statements that are reviewed by EMAS verifiers. In them, the company provides information about all its environmental achievements, whether it's the photovoltaic system on the roofs of the company's buildings at its site in Isny or the fact that 60 percent of production - including all climbing ropes - is made in Germany.
